In a major breakthrough against cybercrime, police in Mewat region of Haryana have arrested a man who allegedly posed as a fake Army officer to carry out cyber fraud. The accused was taken into custody by Nuh Police after multiple complaints from victims who were cheated through online scams.

Accused Posed as Army Officer to Gain Trust

According to police officials, the accused used social media platforms and online marketplaces to introduce himself as an officer of the Indian Army. By using fake identity details and photographs, he gained the trust of unsuspecting people.

The fraudster reportedly lured victims by offering vehicles and other valuable items at very low prices. Claiming that he was being transferred or posted to another location, he convinced buyers to send advance payments quickly to secure the deal.

Many victims transferred money without verifying the seller’s identity. However, after receiving the payment, the accused stopped responding and failed to deliver the promised items.

Complaint Led to Technical Investigation

After realizing they had been cheated, victims lodged complaints with the police. Acting on the complaints, the Nuh Cyber Crime Police Team launched a technical investigation to trace the suspect.

Using digital tracking methods, police identified the accused’s location and conducted a raid. The suspect was arrested successfully, and several important items were recovered during the operation.

Police confirmed that mobile phones, fake identity documents, and bank account details used in the fraud were seized as evidence.
