Amazon Prime $2.5 Billion Settlement Claims: Find out how to claim a refund of up to $51.

US e-commerce giant Amazon has agreed to a $2.5 billion (over ₹20,000 crore) settlement to resolve a landmark legal dispute regarding its Prime subscription. Under this agreement, refunds will be issued to millions of eligible Amazon Prime customers. If you were a Prime member during the specified period and were signed up without clear consent or faced difficulties cancelling your membership, you too may be eligible to receive a payment under this settlement.

This matter relates to a lawsuit filed by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC alleged that Amazon enrolled certain customers in Prime memberships using interfaces and processes that were neither clear nor transparent. Additionally, the process of cancelling the Prime membership was made unnecessarily complicated for many consumers.

Although Amazon did not admit to any wrongdoing, the company agreed to a record $2.5 billion settlement to avoid a prolonged legal dispute.

$1 billion will go to the FTC as a civil penalty.

$1.5 billion will be distributed to eligible customers as refunds.

You held an Amazon Prime membership between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025.

You were enrolled in Prime without explicit consent.

Faced difficulty in cancelling the membership.

You have not already received an automatic refund.

Eligible customers can receive a refund of up to $51. The actual payment will depend on the total number of approved claims and each customer’s eligibility.

If you have received an email or notice from Amazon, you can file a claim online using the Claim ID and PIN provided in it. If you have not received a notice but believe you are eligible, you can still provide details of your eligibility by filling out the online form. According to reports, the deadline for submitting claims has been set for July 27, 2026. No new claims will be accepted after this date.

Once the claim review is complete, eligible customers may receive payment via PayPal, Venmo, direct deposit, or check. The payment process is expected to be completed during 2026. This agreement is not limited to financial compensation alone. Under it, Amazon is required to make its subscription process clearer and more transparent so that consumers do not face any misleading or complex procedures when signing up for or cancelling a Prime membership in the future.

Amazon Prime’s $2.5 billion settlement is one of the largest consumer compensation cases in recent years. If you meet the eligibility criteria, it is important to submit your claim within the deadline. Additionally, to avoid phishing emails or fraud, rely only on the official settlement website or information provided by Amazon.
