On the night of February 15, 2025, at least 18 people, including 14 women and 5 children, died in a massive crowded bus at the New Delhi railway station. The incident took place around 10 pm on platforms 14 and 15, which were packed with people going to the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The overcrowding was further aggravated due to the delay in two
trains and the announcement of a special train, causing confusion and panic among the passengers. The situation worsened when a passenger slipped on the stairs connecting the footbridge to the platform, causing other passengers to fall and causing a stampede.
