What is the truth – what is the link road going to be? The Punhana Municipality has decided to build a new “link road,” approximately 2 kilometers long, from Jurhera Road to Jamalgarh Road. The purpose of this road is to create a route—not through the city center, but outside the city—that will directly connect vehicles to areas like Jamalgarh/Luhingakala. And the traffic will also benefit and the common people of Mewat will also benefit.

The link road will be constructed as a concrete (CC) road. The total estimated cost is approximately ₹2.5 crore. The first phase (Phase 1) has already begun—constructing the road at a cost of approximately ₹80 lakh. According to the municipality’s ME (Chief Engineer), work on the first phase has already begun and is approximately 20% complete. Construction on the remaining sections will begin after the remaining two phases are approved.

Jams and traffic jams in the city

Currently, if one wants to go to Jamalgarh Road or its surrounding areas (such as Luhingakala, etc.), one has to travel through roads within the city. The result is traffic congestion, congestion, and jams on city roads, especially during rush hour. This is a problem not only for drivers but also for pedestrians, small vehicle users, and those who commute daily.

Solution: A link road that runs through the city and outwards The new link road will connect Jurhera Road directly to Jamalgarh Road, not through the city – but through the city. This will: Reduce traffic on the city’s main roads. People commuting from Jamalgarh, Luhingakala, or surrounding areas will no longer have to navigate the city’s congestion and traffic jams. It will act as a kind of bypass saving both time and fuel in daily commutes.

What will be the benefits – Reduced traffic congestion for the general public: Traffic congestion within the city was common due to the high number of vehicles; the link road will provide relief from this. Time savings: The route will be direct and through the city, so late-arriving vehicles will not have to travel through the city center—saving both time and fuel. Improved connectivity: Connecting to Jamalgarh, Luhingakala, and other nearby areas will be easier—facilitating daily commutes.

Reduced congestion on city roads: The city’s main thoroughfares will gradually become quieter—not just for vehicles, but also for pedestrians and cyclists. Convenience for agriculture, business, or other daily activities: Villages, small towns, markets, schools, dispensaries—everywhere will be accessible. For Mewat (especially your area)—this new link road is more than just a road. It symbolizes everyday life, time, convenience, and development.

This isn’t just a small link road. In fact, many roads and link roads are under repair and construction in Nuh (Mewat) district. For example, ₹179.4 crore has been sanctioned to repair dilapidated roads connecting 423 villages in the district. 176 link roads (totaling 313 km) are being renovated. Work is also underway on several other link roads—long-overdue repairs.
